Yendi stays near Miss World crown

Yendi stays near Miss World crown

Written By: Jaevion Nelson - Gleaner Online Writer

Only two days to go before the 2007 Miss World is crowned on December 1 in Sanya, China. The “youthful, exciting, vivacious, intelligent and extraordinarily beautiful 22 year old ‘artical' Jamaican” Yendi is now a step closer to the Miss World Crown.

Eight Miss World experts have voted Yendi from fifth to third place in the Royal Flush found on GlobalBeauties.com. The experts vote is based on the amount of attention Yendi has caught from the media and their belief that she is a top contender for the crown.

Yendi trails Zi Lin Zhang of China who is first and Ada De la Cruz of the Dominican Republic, second in the Royal Flush.

“Yendi is everything that I would want someone representing my country to be. She has beauty, brains and most importantly a heart,” says Kizzy in Pageant Beauties online forum giving her blessings to Yendi.

“She embodies the Miss World and Jamaican spirit and she gives meaning to the thought – beauty with a purpose! She truly represents beauty from within … a talented model and dancer. Yendi ‘sell off’,” remarked Oniel on a Filipino Community online forum.

“You have the entire Jamaica behind you...Keep smiling and keep it natural and do us proud. Our prayers are with you,” remarked Sheldon in the same forum.

“Gawn yah girl, fly wi flag well high, Jahmeka (Jamaica) proud ah yuh, han wi know sey yu ah go win 'cause ‘You were born a WINNER’. Jamaicans wid yu all di way,” shouted Andrew in the Pageant Beauties online forum.

Yendi has indeed been making us proud. She has been successful in all five fast track events in the Miss World competition. In the beach beauty competition she was second. She was also a finalist in the talent and top model competitions. And her team was third place in the sports competition.

The last fast track competition is the Beauty with a Purpose. The winner will be announced during the Final Show on December 1. Yendi has also been named as one of the five finalists in this fast track competition.

Missosology.com another pageant website has Yendi as the number hot pick for their site. Congratulations on your success Yendi. All the best in the final show!
